Great Books About Technology & Software Development

Where Good Ideas Come From

Why I recommend it:
It isn’t often I think a book is better than it’s TED talk, but this book is. Steven provides examples that show how great ideas come from a combination of “what culture wants” and “what technology can do” – proof that nobody should ever think “all the great ideas have been had.”

Team Geek

Why I recommend it:
Developers tend to think and become isolationists within a company unless special attention is brought to the culture – and this book does a brilliant job giving metaphors and guides to build and sustain that culture. (Shout out to the sourdough chapter and literal sourdough geeks.)

Hackers & Painters

Why I recommend it:
There’s something about Paul Graham’s writings that are comforting and relatable, despite the large number of zeroes separating our bank accounts. This book represents the best of his unique writing style and how it humanizes his “use technology to better the world” motif.
